The primary purpose of the Equality Act 2010 was to consolidate, update and supplement the numerous prior Acts and Regulations which formed the basis of anti-discrimination law in the UK.

Under this Act the person is viewed as having a disability if:

– They have a physical or mental impairment

and

–  The impairment has a substantial and long term adverse effect on their ability to carry out normal day to day activities.
